BREAKING NEWS - Disney Parks Announce Monstrous Summer All-Nighter, Theme Parks Open Again for 24 Hours!
When we wrote our Wrap-up report on the craziness that was One More Disney Day last year, we left a question of whether or not we’d see this type of event again.
All good things considered, the 24-hour operations at Disney Parks on both US coasts brought a lot of problems, especially at Disneyland. Sure, you’ve read elsewhere that park management was a nightmare and those trying to get in later in the evening couldn’t even park, but the fact of the matter is is that people came and it was a hit…so why not try it all again?
So let’s try it again.
In a few hours/minutes, Disney Parks execs in Florida will be announcing the next 24-hour “party” happening at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Being called a “Monstrous Summer All-Nighter,” guests will be able to experience 24 hours of magic yet again at Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World and both Disneyland Park AND Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort beginning Friday, May 24 until Saturday, May 25.
The event will kickoff the Disney Parks’ summer promotion (in conjunction with Limited Time Magic) called “Monstrous Summer,” the theme of which highlights the more magical (and family-friendly) side of college as seen in Pixar’s upcoming prequel film “Monsters University” which hits theaters on June 21. Oh, and hopefully makes you feel like you’ll be making a “monstrous” amount of memories this summer at a Disney Park too!
So, are you planning on attending the All-Nighter? Some words of advice -
If you plan on being one of the first people to walk through the gates like we did for One More Disney Day, then expect to camp out outside your Disney Park of choice the night of May 23. Disneyland and DCA will open at 6 AM the morning of May 24.
If you plan on joining in on the festivities sometime during the 24-hour period, then be sure to bring a lot of patience and happy songs with you in your car as there might be a lot of people around you who might have the same idea.
- - -
And that’s that, folks! We’ll be updating this post with more information as we get it, so be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest on the All-Nighter as we get closer to the event.
And you can be sure that we’ll be there covering it as well!
- - -
Will you be attending the All-Nighter? Which Disney Park will you attend? Do you think another 24 hour operation of a Disney Park is wise to do again? Sound off in the comments!

Wow. I don’t even know.

sometimes i thank the lord i work at DAK now

OH GOD VIOLENT OMDD FLASHBACKS. IT WAS LIKE NAM. BUT DRUNK.

Oh. Shit.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

We all knew this was coming. I’m actually kinda hoping I’m either the mid or closing lead. Bring it on. lol

I just heard the entirety of City Hall creak in remembrance of last year. Welp.
I’ll be out of town anyways lol.

Floyd Norman, the first black artist at Disney, animating on Sleeping Beauty, 1958

I love this fact!!! I don’t know American History, since I’m not from there, but according to Wiki, the Civil Rights movement started in 1955, so I’d say Disney was quick to let black people work with them. And this was when Walt was still alive, and if he was so racist, why would he let a black man join their team?

Myth debunked.

You mean Walt is magically not racist because he had ONE black man working for him? Call the press, to not be racist you only have to have a token black man working for you!
The fact Norman worked for Walt doesn’t change the fact that Walt actively used racist stereotypes in his movies. Starting with Dumbo, Peter Man, Jungle Book, and Song of the South to name a few. A black man working for Walt doesn’t change the fact that Walt held racist beliefs and used them in his films. It doesn’t change the fact that Norman was the token black man working for Disney.

they couldn’t resist a moment to make it about walt & defending him with really illogical conclusions about his hiring practices
was he the most racist man in all of history? no, and it only gets brought up so often not because his racism was especially notable, but because fans are so eager to erase 100% of it rather than just understanding he was imperfect and not a superhero and yes, allowed stereotypical depictions to occur in his movies.

I think another reason why it’s important to bring up/why it gets brought up often
is because Disney is so big. How many children in America alone grew up with Disney? Disney was a household name during my child. It’s a household name for kids now. Disney’s large scale influence is a big reason why it gets talked about so much.
Also, I think something really important is that Disney is all about magic and fantasy and wishes coming true. It’s like because of the whimsy of Disney, I think often times people don’t want to analyze it because it’s imagined that it is flawless and free of problems.

Walt Disney is my hero. And he is my hero because of two reasons: he never stopped dreaming, and he was human.
A human with flaws and vices. He was a man of his time, and that doesn’t make it okay. But that’s what he was. He was more accepting of differences for his era, but it didn’t mean he did his best to get rid of those stereotypes, because they are present in films.
I love Disney films, I love my job, and I won’t lie, I love the heritage that the place I work for has. I know that the standards set for the company still need to be worked on, which is what I try to do in my own small way every day.
I know that a Walt Disney fan took away from the original meaning of this post to make it about Walt and to try to make him a perfect idol, and I only added to that. I don’t think of him as an idol, he is my hero. And I just wanted to make sure that people have that understanding of him.
But asides from making this about Walt, I do love this fact. It was one that I didn’t know, and I just looked up a quick snippet on Floyd Norman and found that he worked on some of my favorite Disney movies, and is also a Disney Legend now. Lovely tidbit I now have over yet another wonderful member of the Disney company.

Walt Disney talks about the audio-animatronics that would be in the Ford Magic Skyway attraction at the 1964 World’s Fair.

Listening to him talk just makes me so happy <3

Disney with a splash of Feminism!: How to spot a fake pin.

thelostsunprincess:

image

I don’t trade on tumblr because I see more fake pins in peoples traders than I do real pins. I cringe whenever I see someone trading fake pins. If the pattern on the back of your pin does not roll off the edges, it is fake. There is no “well maybe its real.” It’s fake, point blank.

Real pins have backs that look like:

image

image

image

Some other designs you will see on Disney pins are ice cream cones (DSF), gavel (Disney Auctions), and a smooth back. Like the pins above, the design (or lack of design) will go to the end of the pin. It will look like a cookie cutter was placed on the metal. There will be no boarder. The design will slide off the pin.

image

The middle pin is authentic. See how there are borders on the left and right pin? Those pins are fake. Other tell tale ways to tell if a pin is fake is if there are sharp edges on it. Disney smooths the edges of all the pins. If the colors are off. If a pin is supposed to have a blue background and the pin you have has a green background, its a fake. If the paint of the pin is not smooth and you can see the brush strokes.

image

The quality of scrappers is worse than the quality of Disneys authentic pins.

Hidden Mickey pins are some of the most scrapped/counterfeited pins. Just because you traded with a cast member does NOT mean your pin is authentic. The only way you can guarantee your pin is authentic is if you purchased it from Disney yourself. Before buying from ebay, always check pinpics to see if a pin has a scrapper warning. If it does and the ebay listing doesn’t have the pin of the picture, do not buy it. There is a really good chance its fake. Email the seller for a picture. If they refuse, the pin is a fake.

If you think a pin may be fake, don’t trade it. It’s a really shitty thing to do.

On this note, please don’t chastise Cast Members who have fake pins on their lanyards. We don’t put them on there on purpose. Remember that we do not say no to any pin traders. We are not the pin police, and in all honesty, have no true way of “proving” a pin is fake.

That being said, trading fake pins for real ones is really low. You, as a guest, can make a difference in that. Please trade pins that are in good condition. If you are purchasing from ebay, just be careful. Saving a few dollars sounds amazing, but if it’s a hobby you love, why not ensure it’s authenticity by purchasing from the source?

By trading fake pins on purpose for the sake of enriching your own collections, it shows a level of shelfishness that is truly sad: ruining someone else’s magic, and an amazing service of cast interaction, but filling the CM’s lanyards full of fake pins.

This boy is super sweet. And I’m not going to lie, I cried when he danced with the princesses, around 8:24.
This is true Disney Magic.

Bawled like a baby. Totally lost it I was so overwhelmed by the magic.

THIS is what makes being a Cast Member so special! Not free entrance to the parks, not being able to brag about your job, not your discounts, THIS: the absolute magic and amazement guests have. This is the sweetest, most precious interaction with a very special guest and his family. He must have been FLYING and I’m sure his family is so grateful. What a lovely prince and bunch of sweet princesses.

I started crying not even a minute into the video. this is why I know I could never ever be a face character, I wouldn’t be able to hold in my emotions.

i thought he was just in awe at first, and then i saw the guide dog and then i suddenly understood. this is fantastic and is worth the 13 minutes.

I made the mistake of watching this right now and now I’m crying and I’m sad and happy all at the same time.

I highly encourage everyone to check out Tommy’s youtube channel and read about what an amazing person he is.

I wish he would come and visit Disneyland.

This is why I love working for this company and creating magic. Not this individual in particular, but just the general effect we can have on people.

oh my god, i’m a wibbling mess right now wow

How can anyone hate Disney when there is such magic to be found in the parks and their cast members.

Wonderful.

Disney is Magic~

I was okay until the dancing started. I love Disney, and the company I work for, and everything it stands for. So much <3
